On September 14th, 2018, after 8 years of renting, we purchased the Anita M. Stone Jewish Community Center in Flossmoor, Illinois. Since that time, we have been slowly transforming the space into a warm and inviting place where people will want to come and stay. As we've engaged this process, we’ve been reminded of God’s faithfulness over the years. His plans for us include doing what seems impossible or as the Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 3:20, “more than we can ask or even imagine.”
We now have before us a unique opportunity to steward the people who call SSV home and the resources God has entrusted to us. We see this next phase of renovations as a continuation of our mission to faithfully build a diverse community that is actively extending the Kingdom of God in the south suburbs of Chicago.
We plan to convert one of the large classrooms (room 101) along the main hallway into a new lobby. SSV has never had a lobby and it will offer a much-needed place for people to gather before and after each service to host various gatherings, and to connect with people throughout the week. The existing men’s and women’s restrooms near the new lobby will also be updated. These renovations will include replacing aging walls, sinks, ceiling tiles, stalls, and flooring to provide a modern look and feel. Finally, we plan to add a new ADA/family restroom adjacent to the main lobby. This will function as an ADA-accessible, gender-neutral, single-user restroom, complete with a diaper changing station.
As we move toward adding an additional service and the renovation of our facility to accommodate growth, we invite you to consider how you can prayerfully and financially partner with us as God continues to do EVEN MORE than we can imagine.
