As you probably know, COVID-19 is on the rise in our area. After hearing recent guidelines and advisories from both the Governor as well as the Illinois Department of Public Health, we know the following:
- If the positivity rate keeps increasing, our region (region 10) will go back a level and the gathering limits will be further reduced.
- Due to the recent surge in cases, the Governor put out a recommendation (not a mandate) that gatherings be limited and people should stay home as much as possible for the next three weeks.
We recognize the Governor’s guidance is a recommendation. We also believe we have been able to offer a safe indoor worship service. However, we want to demonstrate and encourage cooperation with his recommendation as well as a focus on the safety of both our SSV community and our local communities.
For this reason, we are going to suspend indoor worship services, Tailgates, and Saturday Socials for the time being.
We anticipated this change would happen. And we’ve gotten pretty good at pivoting! Our commitment to you is to provide updates as soon as we have them. This suspension of indoor worship services is temporary. We do not have a return date, but we will communicate that as soon as a decision has been made.
With this in mind, our mission and vision for the SSV stays the same. We also want to continue to create a community space where we can connect and share and do life together. So we need you to keep showing up as you have been doing.
Join us on Facebook at 10:30 am on Sunday mornings as we use a small team of people to provide the worship experience.
Continue to take part in other aspects of SSV community life by being a part of a small group, signing up for a Curbside Check In, or just texting to check in on your friends.
We also want to encourage you to invite your friends and family to join in on what we’re doing at the SSV. This is a great chance for people to watch our service online. Jesus is still drawing people to Him and His church. Our challenge to you is to invite five people this week to watch us online or attend small group with you.
Finally, we want to extend our greatest gratitude to you as a church family. We are so proud of this community and how you take care of each other and the wider community. Keep praying for our community, our nation and the world. Stay well and stay safe.
